This is taken from the Health Talks Policy for Providers. In case of any discrepancies, the full policy will take precedence.
Our health talks are designed to create meaningful, practical conversations — not just lectures. Whether you’re presenting online or in person, the goal is to make your session engaging, useful, and thoughtfully delivered. Here are some tips to help you bring your best to the experience:
💡 1. Meet the Audience Where They Are
Many participants are already familiar with mental wellbeing basics. Use your time to go deeper — offer tools, perspectives, and case examples they may not have encountered before.
Think about what’s truly useful for people navigating busy work lives — “What can they take away from this and apply tomorrow?”
🧭 2. Have a Clear, Thoughtful Structure
A solid structure helps your audience stay engaged. Consider something like:
Welcome → Key Ideas → Practical Tools → Real-Life Scenarios → Key TakeawaysPace yourself so each section gets the space it needs — especially the reflective or application-based parts toward the end.
🛠️ 3. Keep It Practical and Grounded
Focus on real-world scenarios that participants can relate to.
When possible, include simple frameworks, handouts, or visuals that help ideas stick.
Think of it less as a “talk,” and more as a conversation that leaves a lasting impression.
💻 If You’re Delivering Online
Online sessions come with their own challenges — attention spans are shorter, and tech hiccups can interrupt flow. But with a few intentional choices, you can still create an experience that feels alive and personal.
🚫 4. Avoid Playing Videos
We strongly recommend not using video clips during the session — even short ones. They often eat into limited time and can lag or freeze depending on the audience’s internet connection.
If there’s a resource you love, feel free to mention it and offer it as a follow-up link after the session.
📊 5. Use Polls and Anonymous Sharing
Participants often feel more comfortable sharing anonymously online — and they appreciate the chance to reflect quietly.
Use tools like polls, word clouds, or simple chat prompts to get them involved without pressure.
These moments of interaction often create insight and connection — even with cameras off.
🤝 6. Don’t Pressure Anyone to Turn on Cameras or Speak Up
Many people join from shared or private spaces and may prefer to stay off-camera — that’s completely fine.
Create low-pressure ways to participate, like one-word check-ins in the chat or reaction buttons.
If you invite input, make it clear that it’s optional and welcome, not expected.
✨7. Keep It Engaging and Professional
Use slides that are clean, visual, and not overloaded with text.
Vary your tone and pacing — speak with clarity and warmth, as if you’re having a meaningful conversation with a group of professionals.
Avoid sounding scripted or robotic — aim for a confident and natural delivery, while still maintaining professionalism.
Build in intentional pauses or reflection points every few minutes to re-engage your audience’s attention.
👥 If You’re Delivering In Person
In-person sessions give you the benefit of seeing and responding to real-time energy — but they still need structure and flexibility.
👀 8. Read the Room Gently
Pay attention to body language. If energy drops, try shifting pace, asking a question, or sharing a story.
Move around if the space allows — it helps maintain attention and creates a more relaxed atmosphere.
🧑🏽🤝🧑🏻 9. Invite, Don’t Force, Participation
Encourage reflection or small group discussions, but don’t single people out.
Warm up the room with light, inclusive questions first. You can build deeper engagement from there.
🌈 For All Sessions
⏳ 10. Respect the Time Given
Always aim to wrap up within the allotted duration without rushing.
Leave a few minutes at the end for final reflections, questions, or takeaways — these are often the most memorable parts.
🤗 11. Be Human First
Speak naturally and bring warmth to your delivery — it goes a long way in making the session feel real and impactful.
You don’t have to be “perfect” — just present, thoughtful, and open.
🪞 12. Stay Open to Growth
We occasionally share feedback from clients to help you improve or refine your delivery.
See each session as a chance to grow — your expertise matters, and your impact can be lasting with just a few thoughtful tweaks.
