Blurring or Using a Virtual Background

This article is intended for:

👤 Members (Employees)

🧑‍⚕️ Providers

During video calls, you can either blur your background or choose from a selection of available virtual backgrounds to help create a more private and comfortable environment.

How to change your background

Before or during a video call:

  1. Click on the Backgrounds button

  2. Choose one of the following options:

    • Blur background

    • Select one of the available virtual backgrounds (3 options provided)

Your selection will be applied immediately once selected.

Browser compatibility and requirements

Virtual backgrounds are not currently supported on Safari.

They may also not work properly on older browser versions. To ensure the best experience, please make sure you are using the latest version of a supported browser (such as Chrome or Edge).

Workaround for Safari users (Mac)

If you’re using a Mac, you can still use virtual backgrounds by using Apple’s built-in system feature. This only works for macOS Sequoia and later. For more information, see the Apple user guide.

Before or during a video call:

  1. Turn on your camera

  2. Click on the green video icon shown on the Menu Bar

  3. Click on Background to turn it on

This allows you to achieve a similar effect even when browser support is not available.

📝 Notes:

  • Enabling virtual backgrounds may affect video quality or performance, depending on your device and internet connection

  • If you experience lag or poor video quality, turning off virtual backgrounds may improve performance
