Understanding DST and how it affects your booking times

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of moving clocks forward by one hour during certain months of the year, usually in spring, and back again in autumn. Not all countries observe DST, so booking times can sometimes appear different depending on your and your Provider’s timezone.

DST is commonly observed in parts of:

  • North America (e.g., United States, Canada)

  • Europe (e.g., United Kingdom, Germany, France)

  • Australia and New Zealand

  • Some countries in the Middle East and South America

Many countries in Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia, do not observe DST.

How it works

Our app automatically detects future DST shifts based on the timezone you have selected when booking a session. The session timings displayed in the app is always the exact local time you need to show up.

Example:

Let’s say you live in Santiago, Chile.

  • In the winter months, Santiago operates on GMT-4.

  • In early September, Chile enters DST and switches to GMT-3.

If you open the app while it's still August and book a session for September 15th at 10:00 AM, the app already knows that Chile will be in DST by mid-September. It seamlessly secures your spot for 10:00 AM GMT-3, rather than incorrectly anchoring it to your current winter time (GMT-4).

After confirming the session, you will receive a calendar invite which will also show that the session time is for 10:00 AM GMT-3.

When September 15th rolls around, you simply attend your session at 10:00 AM local time.

Tips to avoid confusion

  • Check the selected timezone when booking a session

  • Review the session time shown in the app and booking confirmation email, which displays the scheduled time in your local timezone along with the applicable GMT/UTC offset.

  • Check the calendar invitation. Your calendar client automatically adjusts the session time to your local timezone, including any DST changes.

  • Communicate with your Provider if you’re unsure about the scheduled time
